Problem Note 58928: The SAS® 9.4 32-bit installation upgrade process might request a SAS installation data file and then produce an error about the 32-bit mode

The SAS® 9.4M3 (TS1M3) 32-bit installation might enter Update mode and then request a SAS installation data file (SID file). After you select the 32-bit SID file and click Next, the following error might occur:

The specified SAS installation file is only valid for the 32-bit mode of SAS foundation.

The specified SAS installation data file is valid for only the 32-bit mode of SAS® Foundation. However, you must specify a SAS installation data file for the 64-bit mode of SAS® Foundation.

In addition, the following error might occur in the SDW_ log:

This error can occur if you currently installed SAS® Simulation Studio 13.2 or earlier.

The issue is fixed in SAS® 9.4M4 (TS1M4). To circumvent this issue, upgrade to the most recent SAS version available.
